"THE MASTER TAPESTRY WEAVER"
September 11, 2001 found me sitting in a Precept Ministries International Bible class - stunned. As a television was rolled into the classroom, my gaze was fixed on a plane crashing into the Twin Towers. Immediately, I knew our country was at war and I began praying for God to somehow use me to minister to military families in such a way that God would be glorified. Having had a father who was a paratrooper in WWII, this was a special request of the heart and I've never stopped praying that prayer. However, I had no idea how God might answer the prayer. Perhaps leading Bible classes and ministering to soldiers' wives? I had no clue. It was beyond me and I decided to leave the logistics to the Lord.
What I didn't know on 911:
God would place and keep me in Precept Ministry leader Jan Priddy's class.
Jan's husband, Don, was retired from the military. (Don holding box in photo.)
Jan's grandson's father was in the military and the same grandson, Jonathon Hall, would eventually enlist to serve in Afghanistan.
That God would allow me to create a website in 2009 with a blog that would be read in fifty-eight countries.
That the blog article entitled "Rendezvous With Destiny" - painful for me to write because I'd lost my Dad not long before yet still had to obey God's still small whisper - commemorating Jonathon's life, military service and sacrifice in Afghanistan - would be read around the world and touching hearts so his life wasn't sacrificed in vain. Though Jon's young life was brief, there was purpose to his life.
Although I never gave up on praying for God to use me, I never dreamed that God would answer my prayer by weaving this section of my life's tapestry in such a marvelous way.
And there's more! Now, a wood carver who is skilled in intricate scrollsaw work has read the article and has been inspired to design a personalized memorial box for Jonathon's family. The New Testament and other items found in Jonathon's pockets when he left to be with the Lord can always be kept safe in the beautiful keepsake box for years to come.
Needless to say, I'm thrilled the words inspired by the Holy Spirit and given to me have now inspired another artist.
I'm reminded of Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think-according to the power that works in you-to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen"
The results of the prayer I prayed on 911 were above and beyond all I asked - so much more. Though it took ten years for God to answer my prayer, this was a huge lesson for me - never give up praying and when God asks me to do something - no matter how painful - obey. God was so willing to do infinitely more. And though, at the time of Jonathon's passing, I could not for the life of me understand why God wanted Jon so soon, perhaps it was part of a bigger plan to help others worldwide - perhaps those who don't yet know the Lord.
Hopefully, one day I'll be privy to the rest of the story and understand what was going on behind the scenes in heaven during those ten years of prayer! I'm sure there was so much more than I could have ever dreamed.
